Marco's depth of experience in the field of toasted sandwiches dates from a very successful period of ducking and diving during his early to mid-twenties, being contemporaneous with the development of his appreciation of playing pool while tipsy and his ability to pour a decent pint of porter, a proper pint of bitter and a good glass of pils.  He spent quite a number of years stepping the border marches in search of Grendel and the other untyndres until he realised that a) Middle English was not the new IT, and b) there wasn't actually a pressing need for the rehabilitation of the understanding of the Fey in the 14th Century literature of Northern Britain.  Now he teaches kids to read, and thinks it a fairly honest way to make a crust.

Marco likes supping porter in quiet pubs and finding beers he hasn't tried before.  He swims, cycles and runs silly distances, sometimes even consecutively, and dares to call it a hobby.  He's never happier than when he has fallen into bad company, but lamentably find opportunities to do so increasingly difficult to come by.
